How It Works
1. Engagement Letter
To begin your taxes, we require a signed Engagement Letter on file.
2. Document Submission
Income documents can be dropped off at our office, mailed in, or uploaded via ShareFile. Any physical documents submitted will be returned to you when your tax return is complete.
3. Preparation
Your tax return will be assigned to one of our skilled professional tax preparers. If more information is needed, our office will contact you promptly by your preferred method of contact.
4. Review
Your tax return will go through final reviews with our Financial Service Manager and Managing Partner as the final step to ensure that your tax return has been completed to the highest standard.
5. Delivery & e-File
Your tax return will be delivered via your preferred method, either pickup or mail. Digital copies will be provided for all returns being mailed. We will also provide pre-addressed envelopes to our office to return your Form 8879 and Invoice Payment.
FAQs
Our most common client questions can be found here.
Can I book a consultation?
Absolutely! Consultations are encouraged for new & returning clients to get you ready for tax season. Call our office during our business offers to book a consultation today!
Consultations cost $250 -- if you are a new client and choose to engage with us, we will apply 50% of your consultation fee to the cost of your tax preparation fee. You will be responsible for the remaining 50%.
* Tax consultations are accepted all year; however, we are unable to schedule consultations from March 15 to April 15 in order to allow more time for our tax department to work on submitted returns and prepare for extensions.
What is the turnaround time?
This is the most frequently asked question, and also the most complicated -- a short answer is: it depends.
We typically like to work as a "First In, First Out" operation, but the main obstacle with this method is whether or not all required documents were acquired at the original submission. If you are unable to submit all required documents at your initial submission, the completion date of your tax return will be impacted by when we get the final documents from you.
Additionally, if your tax preparer has any questions while working on your return, the completion will also be impacted by how quickly those questions can be answered.
If you submit everything needed for your tax filing, and answer all questions promptly, then you can expect a turnaround of 3-4 weeks for your return.
How much does your tax preparation cost?
This is another great question, with a similar answer: it depends.
Tax return complexities range, therefore costs for services range. Your tax return will ultimately be based on the amount of time each phase of your return takes, charged at the appropriate staff's billing rate. Special circumstances (ex: property sale) will incur a one-time cost.
Our tax returns start at a minimum of $500.
Will you file an extension for me?
Absolutely -- as long as we have a signed Engagement Letter on file, we will file an extension on your behalf if:
- it is requested by you, or;
- our tax team knows we will not be able to complete your return by April 15th.
I got a notice from a taxing authority. What do I do?
Getting a notice from the IRS or any taxing authority can feel very unsettling, especially when you do not fully understand what they are notifying you about.
We are here to help!* The first thing we will ask is for you to send us a copy of the notice you recieved via email -- this can be either a scan or picture. We will first want to verify that this is a legitimate letter. From there, we will be able to give you appropriate directions for what steps need to be taken next.
* Please note that we cannot contact any taxing authority on your behalf without a Form 2848. Contact or office for more infotmation.
